Merkur FUTUR style Safety Razor Chrome Finish with adjustable blade angle Review

Merkur FUTUR style Safety Razor Chrome Finish with adjustable blade angle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My wife picked out this particular razor for me after I placed a much cheaper brand in my Amazon wish list. I'm glad she spent the extra money on this one instead. It is designed flawlessly, and you can see and feel the quality of it compared to its cheaper counterparts. The shave that I get from using it is perfect, although it takes a few minutes more to shave with this rather than the cartridge type blades I used before. The razor blades are far cheaper than the cartridge type also (about 20 cents each compared to about $2.25 each), but I get a much closer shave with them, so I win both ways. The brand of razor blades will vary in sharpness, so if one brand doesn't work to your satisfaction, you might want to change brands. The razor came with a Merkur blade, which was way too sharp and cut my face to ribbons, but I changed to Derby blades and have been getting perfect shaves ever since. The only flaw I can think of is that the handle is smooth and has the potential to be slippery, although I haven't lost my grip on it yet. If that's the worst thing about it, then I'm sure I'll get many happy years of use from it. I look forward to using it every morning. This razor won't even get passed down to my son; he can buy his own when he gets old enough. This thing will get buried with me after I die!

Violight VIO200 Travel Toothbrush Sanitizer Review

Violight VIO200 Travel Toothbrush Sanitizer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am about to buy a third one of these in as many years. First, the good: This is a great product that sanitizes my toothbrush. Also, it helps with drying (I shake off excess water, then I put it in, when the light is done it is almost completely dry and an hour later the bristles are stiff and dry, which helps against mold buildup which is a problem when you put your toothbrush in a case like this). It is small enough to travel with (fits in my travel toiletry kit at only 1" longer than my toothbrush; although it is not as small as a plain holder, you couldn't build this any smaller because of the parts inside). It works great!
I use this every day, which means that my example of how long it lasts is an extreme one, but here's the bad: THe first one lasted about 18 months. The second a year. As the batteries get low (about 3-6 months on a pair of AAs), you will notice that the unit needs a shake to turn on. After 9 months or so, it will always need this. Then it will start to use a pair of batteries every month, finally it will completely die. The first one, which lasted longer, was much better built (one part that was metal is now plastic like the rest, the paint was better, the unit lasted longer, and the batteries lasted longer). The paint is also an issue, after a month it seemed like the unit was dirty, but when I went to clean it I found that the paint was changing color in splotches.
Overall, this is a great product that would do much better if they would put some more research into it. They need to make the piece under the toothbrush head out of a better material (like the original metal part was), they need to make the case a bit studier, they need to improve the life (I don't know if it is cheap parts or if the bulb is going, but if it is the bulb it should be replacable like their larger unit's is).
Cost is the final factor. If this lasted 5 years or more, $30 would be reasonable. But since this lasts only a year or so, they should lower the price to the $10 range (including shipping).

No matter how often you scrub and clean, microscopic critters will still thrive in the warm, moist environment of the average bathroom. In fact, a single toothbrush can harbor millions of microorganisms -- millions! -- which means it's a good idea to sanitize something that you put in your mouth several times a day if you want to reduce your chances of bacterial infection.
If you already have the Violight VS100 Toothbrush Sanitizer, then you're aware of its nifty design and the peace of mind that it offers. However, it can be a bit difficult to tote the four-brush VS100 on business trips and vacations. That's where the new VIO200 Travel Toothbrush Sanitizer comes in. That's right, you can take toothbrush sanitization with you on the road, keeping your toothbrush sanitized wherever you go.
There's nothing worse than getting sick while traveling, but it can happen to anyone. Some people are exposed to germs in an obvious manner, such as sitting next to someone who is coughing and sneezing on the plane. But did you know that you can also be harmed by germs if you lay your toothbrush down on the counter in your hotel room? Whether you're staying in a cheap road-side motel or a five-star beach resort, hotel rooms are filled with germs. Even when a bathroom looks clean it may still suffer from microbial contamination.
And here's something to think about: if you plan on staying at a friend or family member's house instead of a hotel during your trip, the germ count in the bathroom will probably be even higher. Even if the people you're staying with are "clean freaks," bathrooms are such a breeding ground for germs that it is near impossible for them to be bacteria-free. According to independent studies, Violight is able to kill 99.9-percent of the bacteria living on your toothbrush (including the influenza virus, streptococcus and staphylococcus) with its germicidal UV light . So no matter where you stay while you're traveling, you can rest assured the VIO200 will help keep your toothbrush clean and your immune system in tip-top working order. Plus, it's ultra-safe to use -- you don't have to mess with dangerous hot steam or boiling water.
The real benefit of the Violight, though, is that it provides peace of mind and good protection from all kinds of nastiness that might be lurking on your trusty bristles. Although toothbrushes don't feel any different after being sanitized by the Violight, it's nice to know that your brushes are clean and germ free. After finding out that the Centers for Disease Control has even stated that toothbrushes can be a significant source of "potentially pathogenic organisms," you'll be glad that the Violight is around. So if you're looking for the ultimate in brushing safety, you'll rest easy knowing that this handy sanitizer puts the "clean" back in oral hygiene.
There are few other things you can do to protect yourself from harmful germs. Travel experts advise you to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after you touch items that are prone to bacteria. You can also wipe down door knobs, lamp switches, telephones, and countertops with antibacterial swabs. And when it comes to the bathroom, whatever you do, keep your toothbrush off that counter. As Violight Travel Toothbrush Sanitizer inventor Joel Pinksys says, "You wouldn't put a dirty fork or spoon that has been sitting on the counter overnight into your mouth without sanitizing it would you? The same should go for your toothbrush."
So take it from Joel, get yourself a travel sanitizer. This device, which holds a single toothbrush and is powered by two AA batteries, serves as both a sanitizer and a safe, clean place to store your toothbrush while you're traveling. After you brush and rinse, simply put the brush in the case, push the button, and seven minutes later the device will shuts off automatically, and your toothbrush will be sanitized. The process couldn't be easier, and the results are well worth the effort.

Dove Appliance Hair Brush Review

Dove Appliance Hair Brush

I purchased this thinking it would help after my days of impossibly tangled motorcycling hair. No, I'm back to using the best brush I have ever found for fine and fragile hair....a brush for grooming DOGS! The Dove brush is fine if you are simply smoothing your hair and working out a few bedtime tangles, but it doesn't even come close to a Chris Christianson pin brush that was meant for my Maltese. So....nice hair gadget, but if you have serious issues with babyfine hair, save your money.

Sulcabrush Handle Review

Sulcabrush Handle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was having a problem with staining both behind my lower, front teeth and between the front of my lower, front teeth. Even though I would get my teeth cleaned every 6 months and brush fastidiously twice a day, the brown stains would always appear several months before my next cleaning. The staining was from coffee and cigarettes. My dental hygienist recommended the Sulca Brush for the staining, even though that's not it's intended use. It works like a MIRACLE in preventing the staining!! I began using the Sulca Brush right after a cleaning, and I use it every morning. Now,I NEVER get any staining. Now, when I get my teeth cleaned, my hygienist says there isn't much for her to clean. I'm so grateful my hygienist told me about the Sulca Brush for staining, or I never would have known because it's not advertised for stain prevention. I highly recommend this product.

(Warning: a review for a vanity product follows, the evident success of which probably signals the end of civilization as we know it).
Good for touch-up - best brand I've tried, though frankly there are few competitors in this space. (Why is that?) JFM's gel is a better formulation in some respects then this brand's non-gel dye -- easier to apply and holds up better over time and with temperature variations. Rarely goes on sale, but GTM does have an token email coupon campaign.

Our 7.5 pound, 11-month-old dog loves these things. He looks forward to this treat so much, that it helped us get him trained to "go" outdoors. We've monitored how he chews them and he does take his time eating them. Reading the only other review posted at this time--it's a good reminder to all of us to always keep an eye out for our dogs eat--easier said than done, though, right? I thought they were expensive to buy at the grocery store, so I'm searching for an online source, but this price is much worse than Kroger! I would have thought that I could save money by buying a 5-pack, but this price is dollars more, per pack.

This is the best brush I found and use!! It smooths my curly, slightly frizzy hair into beautiful staight hair with the help of a blow dryer. Simply pick up hair at the roots with the long plastic bristles, slightly turn the brush to the short bristle side and blow dry using the concentrated hair drying attachment. It reduces drying time and frizzies. The brush is comfortable and easy to control. This is my second brush in 4 years. It has a long life!

This brush is great. I had one a couple years ago before the bristles get bent out of shape. What makes this brush so great is that unlike the tourmaline and ceramic brushes the metal core of this brush really heats up to help straighten thick curly hair quickly. And my hair looks great, not damaged at all, but wouldn't recommend for people with fine or medium tecture hair. I dont understand why the aren't selling these in stores anymore.

Fake Bake Instant Self-Tanning Spray Air Brush Self Tanning Products Review

Fake Bake Instant Self-Tanning Spray Air Brush Self Tanning Products
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This Product is the the best Airbrush/Spraytan product I have ever used. I have gotten spraytaned in a booths, it Either Streaks, Leaves Blotches and Dark spots, Or turns Orange. When I get spraytanned in a booth, It only lasts until you take a shower, and its $30 for only one time. Fake Bake cost me $16.99 for 5 or more uses. And I know that if I miss an area, I can go back over it. Dries quick! And lasts for days. Here are some tips for you.
1) Shower well 1 hour before applying application.
2) Make sure body is dry and hair is dry, and you have no lotion on.
3) Spray Fake Bake over legs first, 1 FT. away from skin in circular motions ( if need be, massage area in )
4) After legs are done, spray on stomach and chest area and back in circular motions.
5) After those areas are done, spray on arms and hands(not palms) in circular motions.
6) The last thing to spray is your face and neck in circular motions.
7) Use blowdryer on cool and blow dry all areas.
8) For best results, use at least one hour before bed time and when you wake up go in the shower and rinse all of the extra spraytan off, use a moisturising body wash( Dove is the best )
*TIPS* I recommend not using a sponge or towel to do face due to blotches. Also do not spray directly on areas because you will be TO DARK! To see when your tan is fading, place a sticker on your upper arm before using Fake Bake and than apply. Remember! This will not turn orange, you will be light bronze with a nice looking light brown tan. If another coat is needed, let first coat dry. And don't forget to spray in the shower.
I hope These helped!
Good Luck!

Oral-B CrossAction Power Dual Clean Soft Bristle Toothbrush, 1-Count Review

Oral-B CrossAction Power Dual Clean Soft Bristle Toothbrush, 1-Count
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ok...here's the scoop: I currently own an Oral-B Vitality Sonic Rechargeable, and have used some of the more expensive Oral-B Rechargeables in the past. I was looking for a decent battery operated toothbrush because my bathroom outlet goes off when the light is turned off, making rechargeables somewhat impractical. So I figured...how much could I lose trying the Oral-B CrossAction Power Dual Clean toothbrush? (NOTE: I received the medium, not the soft, by mistake, and since I only use soft bristled brushes, I went and got a 2-pack of soft replacement heads at Walmart. I was curious to see if there was a noticeable difference between the medium and the soft, and there definitely is. The soft is clearly softer.)
A few "first impressions":
This toothbrush is a bit on the loud side. It sounds kinda like...well...a personal vibrator. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) :o)
It takes 1 battery, whereas some other battery toothbrushes take 2. I don't know if that's a plus, a minus, or neutral. It's just different. The one thing that I think results from only taking one battery is that the handle is on the slim side, which I see as a plus. Some of the other brands I saw on the shelf when I was looking for replacement heads that took 2 batteries looked like they could be used as personal defense weapons. On the minus side, the bottom of this toothbrush is oval, not flat, and there's no stand to place it in, so it won't stand up by itself like some of the other brands.
Using this toothbrush took a little adjustment from the Oral-B Vitality Sonic. The Sonic's head is smaller, and it only has the sonic action. The CrossAction needs to be guided from the front teeth to the back teeth -- at least that's the way I was using it, and it worked very well once I got the hang of it. It's a totally different feel than the Sonic, but an interesting thing happened after comparing the two. My mouth felt fresher (fresh and tingly) after using the CrossAction. At first I thought it was just my imagination. But a couple of times I did a direct comparison, and using the same toothpaste, my mouth definitely felt fresh and tingly with the CrossAction, whereas with the Sonic, it just felt fresh. And the fresh/tingly feeling lasted longer with the CrossAction.
I haven't used it long enough to know how long the battery will last, but I got a pack of 15 AA alkalines for $6, and figure that ought to last for a good while. If I find I'm going through too many batteries, I'll get some Sony Pre-Charged Rechargeables, and that'll take care of that.
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-BCG34HRE4KN-Refresh-Pre-Charged-Batteries/dp/B001DL9WDG/ref=pd_cp_e_2
The one cool thing about these cheap battery operated toothbrushes is that you can always change the battery when you need to. With the more expensive rechargeables, when the battery goes after a year or two, that's it -- the batteries in those toothbrushes are not user replaceable.
Conclusion: Deal, or no deal? DEAL! Definitely...DEAL!!!

Philips Sonicare HX6733/70 HealthyWhite 3 Mode Premium Edition Rechargeable T Review

Philips Sonicare HX6733/70 HealthyWhite 3 Mode Premium Edition Rechargeable T
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A few years ago - in my quest to find an electric toothbrush per my dentist's instructions led me to stand in front of the products meticulously comparing one vs. another, did it do this that and the other, price point, etc. Oral B won for 1 reason, price and I had a coupon at Costco and their replacement heads were cheaper. That was a few years ago. I was under the impression that all electric toothbrushes were created equally. Although my teeth's health improved, there are still issues. My last cleaning was very intense at the dentist.
My Oral B is almost dead - it's been 2 years, the battery will hold for a couple of days, but not over a week like it used to. The search for the next toothbrush started.
Surprisingly, I didn't have a hard choice with picking Sonicare. I see the demo/advertising whatever at my dentist. I also knew I wasn't happy with OralB - because my teeth didn't feel clean, and I knew that it was definitely not getting into all the contours of my mouth.
My first use with my Sonicare
I felt like a light bulb exploded in my head. It was ridiculous how clean my teeth felt, as if I just had them cleaned and polished at my dentist. How is that possible with only 1 session? Was my Oral B that bad? Maybe this was a fluke. A few more days went by, my teeth stayed with that smooth clean feeling. It's been a few weeks and I'm hooked.
What's so different about it - the brush head for one. Oral B has a circular head, it spins with use. With the Sonicare, it oscillates back and forth, mimicking real tooth brushing motion. There are contours of the brush so it gets between the teeth. The bristles are stiff to clean my teeth but gentle enough to get into the gums w/o causing bleeding. Oral B brush heads were rough and painful.
This product is great for small mouths, hard to reach areas/crevices and for sensitive teeth.
I like that it has options for sensitive and regular or whitening. I like that it's timed so I know I'm doing the right amount. The toothbrush will shut itself off after 2 minutes. It'll be good for kids too, so they're not doing a swipe and say they're done.
I'm very impressed with this product, very glad I got it and can't wait until my next dentist appointment. I've had it for a few weeks and notice not only are my teeth cleaner, but they are truly whiter.
UPDATE:
I've had it for a few months - went for my cleaning and my dental hygienist noticed my teeth/gums were improving. She asked me what I did differently and told her I switched toothbrushes. HA!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE my toothbrush!
UPDATE 10/6/2010:
Went for my cleaning yesterday - OMG! Can we say miracle? The dental hygienist was super happy to see my gums are getting healthier, when they do the measurements I've been getting mostly 4's (1's are ideal, 5's are no good), but this time, they were at mostly 2's with a couple of 3's!! My gums/teeth and mouth are overall getting better with each visit. My dentist is happy with my progress - so am I!! the least amount of dental work, the happier I'll be.
