(More customer reviews)Let me start by saying that I had an such an excellent experience with customer service when I ordered from Lock & Mane, that I would definitely order from them again!
Now to the brushes. I have struggled for quite a while to figure out how to fix my hair and have spent more than I should going to hair salons and observing while they fix my hair in the hopes of figuring out how to recreate their secrets at home.
I decided to give this brush set a try as T3 has a great reputation and I didn't want to jump into the realm of $200+ hair dryers without changing my brushes first :)
I have learned several things:
1. Your tools matter. I have thick, long and fabulous hair somewhere in the frizzy wavy family.
For straight hair - I have found the following tools work great in combination with one another.
a. A good hair dryer that gets relatively hot:
I currently have a Gold'N Hot and am planning on buying a Revlon 1875 Ionic for comparison purposes.
b. I have the fabulous T3 Blow Out Brushes pictured above.
The brushes work wonders in combination with a good hair dryer and I feel with some practice, I may be able to recreate the beautiful hair experience at home that many Dominican salons are known for.
Just a quick note, I don't particularly recommend hair dryers and so forth from the drugstore, as to me, they often don't have proper settings and for thicker/longer hair may not be able to provide enough height. I've tried them and they don't work particularly well for me, however you may have a different experience.
2. Moisturizing & Styling Products
I think this is really dependent on how dry your hair/scalp is. I suffer from severely dry hair and scalp, however with proper deep conditioning and a good daily moisturizer, this is mitigated. I am currently trying out virgin coconut oil as a deep conditioner, and have tried olive oil, cholesterol and hot oil among other things in the past. Just as a reminder, my hair is very thick and long, so how much moisture your hair needs is really up to you. Currently my favorite daily hair moisturizer is Razac Perfect for Perms, with Mizani Rose H20 Conditioning Hairdress as a close second.
As to shampoos/conditoners, I have been using Paul Mitchell's Shampoo One line for the last year with pretty promising results. I suggest catching these on sale!3. Technique - Practice Practice Practice
The really really cool thing about this set, is there is a step by step mini card in it with the steps to use the included hair dryers and clips in conjunction with your hair dryer. I think the process worked pretty well and that is considering that I have a hard time coordinating my hand with the hair dryer with the hand with the brush. And my hair came out the best it has at home thus far, in spite of the fact that with so much hair I got tired at about the 2/3 point.
For those of you that have gotten a wash & set or whatever they call it these days, the process you are recreating with these brushes is essentially the same. You are using the hair dryer and diffuser in one hand and using the brush simultaneously on the other side of the hair. I think one of the secrets to this is to use only small sections of hair at a time, as is suggested in the instructions.
Blessings! I hope you all fall in love with this brush set for straightening your hair as much as I have!
