(More customer reviews)This was the second soap I purchased after switching from canned junk to real shave soap/cream. This is without a doubt the best smelling soap I've found. Something like a warm fern with a slight woodsy smell. Not overpowering, but rich and smooth. Smell 'out of the box' is a little different than what settles in after its been exposed to air for a while, and that makes it even better. Compared to L'occitane Cade and D.R. Harris Marlborough, this smells better, but I had not used it in some time as it did not appear to be as cushioning. A year later, and likely with the development of a more skilled hand on my part, I've began to use it again, and have gotten some very nice shaves from it with NO irritation, which is kind of a big deal for me. Top quality product, nicely packaged, lather's relatively easily. If your interested, purchase.

(More customer reviews)Received the first one broken during shipping. Seller quickly replaced it with a new one wrapped more carefully, which arrived in good condition. I set the item next to my bathroom sink where I shave. It was brushed lightly and dropped 6 inches into the the sink (the cap was still on). I removed the lid and it had broken at the base. Nice idea to have a "chapstick" size styptic pencil, however the stick diameter (approx. 1/4 in.) is too small to have sufficient strength for anything but the most gentle use. Get something a bit bigger. I would suggest the manufacturer make a tapered stick so the base diameter is larger.

Not only is it emotionally soothing to take a few moments to whisk up a nice head of foam, the actual shave you get from this product is second to none.

(More customer reviews)Well, I am a few months into my DE wet shaving practice. Since abandoning the Mach 3 capitalist garbage, my life has improved greatly. Never again. Never will I use that Fusion, "Super technology, flies like an airplane, cleans your kitchen and takes out your trash, hacks up your face for 30$ a refill pack." razor.
Anyway, the soap.
I have tried many Soaps and Creams for shaving and Col. Conk is as great a soap as any of the other 40$ brands. I have a wooden container of Truefitt and Hill soap in my bathroom and I haven't used it in weeks due to this little 3.00$ miracle.
My Taylor of Old Bond Street creams have been sitting in my medicine cabinet because the Col. whipped them into shape.
The bay rum soap is Glycerin based, so you may have to adjust your lathering a little bit, if you are used to triple milled hard soaps like T&H.
Make sure you get A LOT of the soap from the puck into your brush.
To build a lather, Whip it HARD and fast for a good minute in your bowel. Make sure to add little drops of water every 15 seconds or so.
Keep Whipping it good, Grandpa!
you should get one of the best lathers for a shave you ever had!
