(More customer reviews)I have always been a fan of Crest toothpaste products and have even used a variety of their whitening strips as well. When offered the chance to test and review this new "whitening" toothpaste, I eagerly accepted.
As I consume a large amount of coffee each day, I am always fighting to prevent staining of my teeth. I have tried whitening toothpaste offerings from other manufacturers in the past and have found that they are ALWAYS extremely expensive and never really produce noticeable results. So when I saw the price of the new Crest 3D White Advanced Vivid Fluoride Toothpaste, I was sure I was going down a road that I was already familiar with. It is indeed quite pricey and the amount of product you get is not exactly what I would call generous. However, from the first brushing experience with this toothpaste I was convinced that Crest had come up with a really great product.
The tube itself has a flip-over, snap top, which makes it easy to open and close while holding your brush. I have a fairly large power toothbrush so I greatly appreciate not having to fight with a threaded cap. The paste itself is a brilliant white color, with lines of clear gel blended in. The taste is nothing short of amazing! I like a strong, minty taste and this new Crest toothpaste provides just that. Now one thing I immediately noticed is that this toothpaste creates a bit of foaming action, which is not unpleasant in the least, but I would recommend that you do NOT add water to your brush when using this product. When I added even a slight amount of water I found that I had white foam falling out of my mouth by the time I finished brushing. When finished brushing my teeth feel very clean and somewhat tingly. To me it feels almost the same as when I have my teeth professionally cleaned. But does it whiten your teeth? Well I guess that is in the eye of the beholder.
After using the Crest 3D White Advanced Vivid Fluoride Toothpaste for a week (brushing with it 3 times per day), I did notice a 'slight' improvement in the color of my teeth. Still, I don't think it would provide extreme whitening all on its own. Therefore I decided to use the Crest 3D White Advanced Vivid Whitestrips (another great Crest product), to do the initial whitening of my teeth, and I now use the Crest 3D White Advanced Vivid Fluoride Toothpaste to maintain the level of whiteness. So far I am extremely pleased with this whitening toothpaste, in its ability to keep my teeth white, and I just cannot express enough how great the minty taste of this product is.
So if your teeth only need a mild amount of whitening then this new Crest product may do the trick. But if you are looking to whiten your teeth by several shades, I would highly recommend using the Crest Whitestrips I mentioned above (or another proven whitening product you are comfortable with), and then use this new Crest 3D White Advanced Vivid Fluoride Toothpaste as a daily maintenance product to keep your teeth a brilliant white. The only reason I am not giving this Crest toothpaste a perfect 5-star rating is because of the high cost for the small tube. Brushing with it 3 times a day requires me to purchase more than one tube per month. My next experiment is going to be brushing with this toothpaste once per day and using my normal Crest toothpaste for the rest of my brushings, to see if my teeth remain as white as they are now. If I can use this rather expensive product as a supplement only, then I will gladly continue buying it going forward.
