Used with plenty of hot water, a double edged razor, and a brush (up and down strokes are best) and you can expect the closest, most comfortable shave ever. The scent is manly but not macho, and is very light in any case after you wash it off, and you don't need to use aftershave either. Wonderful.
If you use a brush, make sure to get a good badger hair brush (expect to spend anywhere from twenty to forty dollars for a decent but inexpensive brush that will last a decade or more.) Make sure to also get a brush stand like the Nickel Shaving Brush Holder to keep water from seeping into the handle, which shortens the life of the brush.

Jack Black Beard Lube Conditioning Shave Review

(More customer reviews)I should get my husband to write this review. He's been using Jack Black shaving lube for the majority of the time of our seven going on eight years together. His skin has been troubled by eczema and some roscea and he's got a demanding beard....plus like a lot of men born during the late 1950s, he is not one to want to fuss over his skin or do anything that lands him in metrosexual land.
This Jack Black Beard lube completely changed his skin care attitude, completely changed his shaving routine/ritual with nary a groan or complaint, and his skin troubles are gone. Gone. (full disclosure: he uses a prescription eczema cream and will continue to do so on an as-need basis) His skin looks cared-for and healthy, he is not getting the weather-beaten lines that many men start to get at this time in life (he's 51 this year) and he's not nicking himself - even with what I privately call these dime-store throwaway shavers. In contrast, despite the use of the prescription skin creme for eczema, traditional shaving creams plus a nicer/more expensive shaver with throwaway blades, his face just looked tortured.
Until he started using Jack Black Beard lube.
The Beard Lube is a silicone-based clear lotion - and only a little bit is needed at any time. Something about its other ingredients keeps skin looking good - noticeably so.
I say bite the bullet and try just one bottle or tube. I bet you'll be really pleased. If you are a guy, your woman will swoon over your skin, will enjoy nuzzling your face and purring, and you will NOT feel like you are selling out to the male skin care crowd. You are going to wonder what took you so long to find out about Jack Black Beard Lube and why you aren't stopping reading this now and getting on with ordering some is ---- well, get busy!
(p.s. Not a perfumy item- very neutral in scent, by the way.)

It didn't fail me -- the soap smelled nice, though wasn't anything remarkable (if you want remarkable, see Col Conk), the brush was surprisingly good -- my eldest son confiscated mine. The mug is a classic that may one day hold coffee for me. Fun, inexpensive, and a great intro into the art of shaving with a mug and brush!

(More customer reviews)Maybe it's the Italian name that makes it difficult to market to the masses (it's available at Bath and Bodyworks as a re-packaged CO Bigelow product). In any event, no living, breathing man should be denied the opportunity to indulge in this superb shaving product.
Though it might not get the kind of enthusiastic endorsement reserved for the higher-end English made creams from the discerning wet shaver/hobbyist crowd (shave geeks), Proraso is a quantum leap in quality compared to the canned stuff on the drug store shelf. For the uninitiated, a tube of Proraso cream is an excellent first step in the journey toward a vastly improved shaving experience.
Aside from the luxurious, cushioning lather one can make using a decent badger hair shaving brush (highly recommended), Proraso's strength is also its drawback. The cooling, tingling sensation of menthol and eucalyptus oil is a pleasurable experience for many, but harsh for those with highly sensitive skin (and noses). So be forewarned if you think you may fall into the latter category. Being in the former category, my experience with Proraso has been like a dream come true. Where Proraso really shines, though, is in the post shave; the moment after the last bit of lather has been rinsed away. A cold water rinse follow-up truly ramps up the invigorating pleasure of this cream...a bracing wake up call for those groggy, early morning shaves.
I disagree with the reviewer that said this cream is too expensive. If used correctly (with a shave brush), a pea-sized amount is all that's needed to produce an abundant lather. Nevertheless, the benefits of this highly recommended product far outweigh its cost.

Jack Black Supreme Cream Triple Cushion Shave Lather Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my husband, and was shocked by how much he loved it. I had given him the 7 piece "On the Road Travel Pack", which he loved, and when he ran out of the shave lube included in that, I thought I'd get him this Triple Cushion Shave Lather. It is the greatest! He hates to shave, but this makes it much more tolerable for him. Soft, smooth skin, and a smooth, no drag razor trail make this the best stuff he's ever used for shaving. I love too use it for shaving my legs too! The macadamia nut oil, glycerin and soybean oil, make a terrific moisturizing base, and help protect from razor nicks and abrasions. Sometimes it is hard to find, just make sure it is the Jack Black Shave Lather in the jar, not the tube. (altho the shave lube in the tube is good too...) this Triple Cushion is just that much better, and worth searching out.
