The idea of keeping a toothbrush around for between meals sounds like a great idea. But using a typical toothbrush and keeping toothpaste around isn't. So when I heard about the Wisps, I was anxious to try it out.
The primary use, which is to quickly brush your teeth, works as expected. I wasn't sure how well the small toothbrush and bristles were going to work. The handle is small, but very sturdy. It showed no signs of bending or breaking. The bristles are very soft. So this should appeal to everyone, but may not be 'powerful' enough for those that like hard bristles. I prefer medium, but the soft ones worked really well. I actually tested this right after I ate dinner. I won't get into the details, but my teeth and mouth feel very refreshed.
The peppermint flavor comes from a small gel-like sphere in the middle of the bristles. I wasn't sure if it was going to be a liquid or hard. When using, I wasn't able to use all of it, but I assume that may be by design. I actually brushed for quite a while.
The built-in toothpick is a nice feature, but it wasn't as effective as I had hoped. Again, I don't want to go into details, but wasn't able to work very well. Also, a word of caution, the point is very sharp. Much sharper then a wooden toothpick. It could cause sensitive gums to bleed, if not used with care.
In my opinion, the packaging could be made a little more travel friendly. For instance, the package comes with two brushes. So if you just use one, you still have to carry around the whole thing. Also, the protective foil didn't come off smoothly. So it was somewhat difficult to take out the toothbrush. These are really just minor details, but I thought I'd share my experience with you.
Pros
====
- Toothbrush actually works quite well, but it tickles
- Peppermint taste is nice and more powerful then I anticipated, but in a good way
- Toothbrush is very sturdy
Cons
====
- Packaging is a little more bulky then it should be
- Metal wrap didn't open cleanly, so brush was stuck
- Toothpick is sharp, but maybe a little too soft to be effective
- A little pricey at ~$1/brush
In the end, I would recommend this product for those that are perhaps obsessed with clean fresh mouth. They work as advertised, but could use a few minor enhancements.
