(More customer reviews)I purchased this Clarisonic Skin system from my dermatologist and I love it. I use it once a day in the shower and it's great for keeping my skin looking healthy and fresh. I live in Alaska where I don't get sun for close to half a year and this product makes my skin feel much more alive and gives it some color. You can use any liquid cleanser with it - - you do not have to use the Clarisonic cleansers that come with it. The heads last a long time but when they wear out, replacement heads are available at about $25 each.
I highly recommend this product.

Earth Therapeutics Softouch Complexion Brush Review

(More customer reviews)I loved this brush when I bought the first one. I would use it on my face in the shower, it is very gentle. One day when I was using it though it just fell to pieces and crashed to the floor. It felt like glass going into my face. I knew I had dropped it before and thought that maybe it had a hairline crack and this caused the breakage. So I bought a new one to replace it, the exact same thing happened with this one after just 2 weeks. I contacted Earth Therapeutics and told them what had happened and asked for a replacement brush, since I had already purchased 2 in a matter of a few months. They just responded that they would pass the information onto their Research Department. The next time I was in Mom's, the store where I purchased the brushes I informed them of my experience and they said they would discontinue carrying the product. Whether they did or not, I don't know. I know I will never buy another Earth Therapeutics product in my life. It's not fun having what feels like pieces of glass break apart in your face when your cleaning it!

DermaNew Acne and Oil Clarification System Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered my DermaNew Acne kit in late January 2007. The item came packaged in a ziplock bag, which was odd. Out of the bag, the item was open; there was no shrinkwrap or anything to protect the contents, thought the included spongeheads (one small, one large) were shinkwrapped, as were the included AA batteries. The "tool" itself reminds me of Neutrogena's dermabrasion tool, both in the type of plastic used, and the vibrations it makes: the handle itself vibrates when the tool is used, which is very unpleasant. Also, the vibration of the head itself doesn't really have much of an effect; you get the same effect whether the tool is on or off. That means the tool is just an expensive combination facial cleansing brush/foam application sponge. The "dermabrasion" cream that comes with the kit isn't that great; it's only 1% salicylic acid (beta hydroxy acid) and it doesn't really exfoliate or clean that well. The item certainly isn't worth its MSRP, but perhaps is worth under ten dollars; it's just a novelty. The instruction manual that comes with it look like it's been cut from a larger sheet of paper w/ a child's pair of safety scissors -- BY a child (it's crooked), and the box it comes in looks suspiciously dirty and broken, like it's been open and/or thrown around a lot since it was filled.

I remove my makeup with the Regenerist Cleansing Wipes first so I do like the fact that the cleansing systems removes any makeup that's left behind. I will post an update at day 10.

Originally wanted the clarisonic, but the Pretika is a great alternative and very reasonable price. My skin is combination (oily tzone). I dont have sensitive skin, so I use it daily on the lower setting as part of my regular skin care routine.. and once a week on stronger setting to exfoliate. My skin has never been smoother!! Its glowing, and keeps the blackheads away from my nose! I absolutely love it! I use glytone skin care products, and the brush definitely helps my skin better absorb them. Ive read alot of people who complain about the pretika brush dying on them after a short time... I believe that this will happen if u recharge the brush while its wet. Make sure the brush is completely dry before setting back to charge!! Especially the metal charging plates. I even go a step further, and place a plastic ziploc bag over the charging cradle while i wash my face, to make sure i dont splash water on it. If you take care of this brush, it will take care of you!!

(More customer reviews)Hmmm. I normally like Olay products, so I'm not sure how they wound up with this huge misfire. But this product is awful. Even for free.
First of all, the name of the product is "7-in-1 Anti-aging Eye Cream". So, call me crazy, but I thought this would be, you know, an eye cream. It's not. There is nothing eyecreamy going on here... it's not moisturizing at all and in fact my middle aged eyes (and I would think I am the target demo here) need an actual eye cream first for this product to go on at all. So ... what's the point? It also claims to 'immediately reduce the appearance of dark circles'. I had to laugh. Dark circle appearance is reduced because this is a concealer. It's makeup! There's nothing magic, it's not actually treating your dark circles... it's hiding them.
Which brings me to my second point: Even if you accept this product for what it is (a concealer), it still fails. The gigantic nylon brush glops way too much product on, and you need to use your finger to blend it anyway so why bother with a brush at all? The texture is very thick and unpleasant. The color is too dark for me. This is a very heavy, unnatural-looking concealer. Yuck.
BOTTOM LINE: This is a concealer, not an eye cream - you need to use an actual eye cream first to get this stuff to go on smoothly. As a concealer it is heavy and gloppy and thick. I can't recommend this product to anyone at all. I tried it for a few days to give a fair review, then tossed it.

Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System Review

(More customer reviews)I know you are wondering if a $28 item can compare at all to something that cost nearly ten times the price. The answer is YES! I have the Clarisonic Pro - which is the top of the line for their model, so before you spend the money on both, I'll do a side by side comparison for you. Mind you, I am VERY happy with my Clairsonic. Even knowing that this I am happy I made the purchase for both of them, since they are fairly different. Here's why:
Size: The Olay Pro-X is about half the size of the Clarisonic. This is actually better in many ways. It is easier to hold, lightweight, it fits in my shower caddy easily without dropping, you can travel with it very easily. I think this is my favorite part about the differences. It also makes the brush head much smaller, which has a different effect. Of course, the motor is at least half the size as well, and this effects how this feels. I can't actually say it is better or worse than the Clarisonic, it's just different. It is like getting a Sweedish massage (Olay) as opposed to a deep tissue massage (Clarisonic).
Cleansing Products: The Olay cleansing formula has tiny granules and is exfoliating. The Clarisonic cleansers are gels and the specifically say that you cannot use exfoliating cleansers with granules on theirs - most likely because the motor is stronger and it will scratch your skin. I really liked the way my skin felt after using the Olay product. I felt sparkling clean and my skin was shining.
Versatility: This is where I love my Clarisonic more. Since I bought the pro, I can use it on my body, and have different size brush heads and change the timing. Is it worth 10x more the price? Not necessarily. The Olay Pro-X has two speeds, you don't really need more than that. But I do love having the option of using the full body brush on the Clarisonic. Also, there is slightly more control with the Clarisonic since it is sturdier, the ProX does slide a bit, though not excessively so. You can still maintain some control with the Por-X though not as much.
Charging: The Pro-X uses two double-A batteries that it comes with. It was a bear to take the battery case off, but once I did it was fine, and it doesn't need recharging that often. I use the best batteries in the world, eneloopSanyo Eneloop 8 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteriesand I'm good to go for several weeks. The Clarisonic has a charging holder that you plug into the wall, you don't need to change the batteries, but you do need to find a place in your home to park it for an hour or so every week. I prefer having the double A rechargeable option of the Olay. It also makes it so much easier to travel with.
Please note: It is not that easy to figure out how to install the batteries, and there are no instructions. You might not want to pull open the wrong part of your product for fear of breaking it. I had to call the company to figure it out, and I've had a couple of people email me to ask me, so here goes: Hold the product with your right hand by the top/sides of the handle with the brush head facing down. Keep holding firmly with your right hand, while with your left you pull the handle away from you. The top part of the handle comes off to load the batteries.
The bottom line: I think the Olay Pro-X is a steal. If you are on the fence about which to buy this or the Clarisonic, and you only need it for your face and not your body, you will probably be better off saving your money and going with this! Personally, I am glad I have both. This is definitely worth the investment!
