(More customer reviews)I am 45 and have very light skin. This product removed almost all of my freckles and age spots and gave me skin that looks good even without foundation. It took away my large pores on my cheeks, and improved the small "chicken bump" texture I have under my eyes. All my wrinkles are not gone but they look softer and are less noticeable as the skin is softer and seems to "drape" better. The difference is dramatic. I have used this product 3 times. The first time I left it on for only 1 minute. The second time I left it on for 3 minutes. Both of these peels still gave me great effects (and left me wrinkled a peeling for a few days afterwards). The 3rd time I was more confident to use the peel like a professional would, layering the product by putting it all over my face for 3 minutes, applying a second layer and waiting 3 more minutes before applying a third and finally a fourth time in the few spots that didn't seem to frost over. You should know it hurts! At first my skin looked very red like a bad sunburn. Brown spots start showing up and continue to get much worse until the skin was very dry, taught, wrinkled and dark. This is best described as a layer of dark wrinkled leather.It is not pretty and it is not subtle. Plan to hide for a week! After 5 days I looked better and could return to the real world. By day 10 my skin was shiny, smooth, and amazing. I suggest starting off slow with this...you don't know how your skin will react and it is a very strong peel. I had done my research and so before doing the peel I had on hand skin neutralizer to stop the sting immediately after washing the product off, emu oil to keep the skin moist while it is healing, and copper peptide serum to help speed the healing. I saved several hundred dollars using this product instead of a laser peel and I'm very happy with the results.

DDF-Doctor's Dermatologic Formula Revolve 400X Micro-Polishing System Review

(More customer reviews)I'm not a girl with too many gifts in life, but one I do have is great skin. Unfortunately, this genetic boon has made me somewhat lackadaisical about my skincare regimen. Now that I'm in my 40's, it's time to get a little more serious about this.
I've been using the DDF Revolve 400X Micro-Polishing System for two weeks now. When it arrived, the first thing I did was pop in the batteries and test it on the back of my hand. It felt great! Upon reading the instructions, I thought, "Doing this for one minute a day is not going to be enough." But actually, it is.
I've been using the machine exactly as recommended. It comes with two different types of heads used for two different activities. The soft-bristled brush can be used for daily cleansing--except for on days when you use the flat sponge head for exfoliation.
The first time I used my foaming cleanser with the brush head, I applied the cleanser directly to the device (as opposed to my skin) and I wondered if it would foam up like crazy. The micro-polisher spread the cleanser fine, but everything was sort of dry and not that foamy. I quickly learned that things are much more comfortable if you re-wet the brush head once or twice as you go. Using the machine on my skin does feel great. I start out at the lower speed and work my way up to the higher one. My thoughts of scrubbing my face for ten minutes at a time were way off-base. This is a fairly intense cleansing. There's nothing remotely irritating about it, but the recommended minute is really all you need. You can just tell. When I was done, my skin felt super clean and super smooth and just really, really good. And, FWIW, I now find that I'm more diligent in my use of sun screen, night cream, moisturizer, etc.
The next day I tried out the exfoliation function. It's recommended that you not do this more than twice a week, which seems about right. I'm sure that once a week will be plenty for many. For exfoliation, use one of the two included sponge heads. These sponges are firm and dense, like the kind you use to apply makeup. You'll also use a small amount (half a teaspoon) of the included DFF Polishing Crystals. Here, rather than on the machine head, I placed small dollops around my cheeks and chin. (It seemed less spreadable than the cleanser.) The cream has a very gritty texture, and when used it was noticeably self-warming, as advertised. Here again, I'd recommend thoroughly saturating the sponge head with water before use, and re-wetting if necessary so things don't get too dry and abrasive. And don't overdo exfoliation; it's like sand-blasting your face--but in a good way, LOL.
Again, I felt great and tingly after using the micro-polisher to exfoliate. To be honest, I suspect my esthetician would say that the polishing crystals are too abrasive to be used for exfoliation. (She always says that about things that feel good.) So, when my supply runs out, I'll probably continue to use the machine with a gentler product that she recommends.
I'll note again that I don't have any skin problems to cope with. Users with sensitive skin, rosacia, acne, or other issues may find their results to be more or less optimal than mine. Should I experience anything not noted here with extended use, I will update this review accordingly.
I see that some reviewers aren't pleased with the value of this product. I'll be honest, I find it hard to judge. I never purchase these sorts of luxury items, so I can't effectively compare it to similar products. All I can tell you is that I'm quite delighted with this little machine. While it is costly, it seems to be doing its job quite well, and it offers me a minute of real indulgence in my day. Like I said, it's a highlight.

What's worse, it is about 10% as effective as the Spa Science model. If you are debating which one to get, the Spa Science model gives you value for your money. The pad I do not like. it discolors once wet and is to porous a sponge to do much with. I use the long brush for daily cleansing and the shorter one for using with exfoliants.

The Wave ( it comes as a Starter Kit ) is a hand-held vibrating cleanser and comes with two trail packs of pre-soaped pads and the necessary AA battery.
The size of the Wave is perfect. It fits easily and comfortably in your hand and is about 3 inches in size ( approximately the size of your palm ). Small, half-dollar sized, pre-soaped pads are placed on the head of the Wave - and this is wonderful, mild Neutrogena soap. You activate the soap by running the Wave under some water. You then turn on the Wave with a push button and that's it. You're all set to use the Wave - moving it over your face. When you're done - you pull off the pad, and throw it away. Simple.
The soap pads are very easy to use. You just place them on the head of the Wave. The head is designed to "grab" the pads. There is no pushing, no connecting, no messing with anything - just put them there.
My favorite thing about the Wave though, is that it can be used at the sink or in the shower. Yes, in the shower! You don't have to make an extra stop at the sink to wash your face before jumping into the shower. Yipee!
The vibration of the Wave is just perfect, gentle - it is NOT abrasive and it does not move in circles or brush against your face. You don't end up with patchy red areas!
The soap on the pads is mild and soft and leaves your face feeling wonderful. Neutrogena is famous for it's soap, and using it once, you know why.
Because both the vibration and soap is mild - you can safely use the Wave every day, anytime you wash your face. You don't have to be concerned with using it too often or it being too rough on you. I use it daily without any issues at all.
Travelers : This item is small and you can easily put it in your make-up case or travel-pack.
I got the pink colored Wave, though I have seen green and blue colors available.
My only issue with the whole package is that the pre-soaped pads do not come in a re-sealable pouch.
All and all, though - This items is great and I highly recommend it.
This item includes : Wave Cleanser device, 14 pre-soaped pads and a AA battery.
Refill pads, in sets of 30, are required after you use the initially supplied 14.

DermaNew Facial Rejuvenation System Review

(More customer reviews)Okay, so 80 bucks seems like a lot of money to plunk down for an at-home microdermabrasion kit...especially when everyone from Homedics to L 'Oreal is marketing a more cost-friendly version of what appears to be the same EXACT thing. However, experience (and lots of money not-so-well spent) has taught me that, in most cases, you generally get what you pay for. Case in point: a few months ago I finally made the decision to trade in my 99 cent ultra-black mascara for a high-end name brand version of the same product...I immediately discovered that mascara-induced racoon eyes really can be avoided! Who knew? After that, I vowed never to pinch pennies when it comes to beauty. Now there are, of course, some exceptions; my mother swears by Oil of Olay -as do I- but when you're talking about microderabrasion, a proceedure that can cost as much as $150 per session, it's hard to believe that you can achieve the same exact results with something that is a mere fraction of the cost.
Skeptical but desperate for youthful looking skin, I opted to splurge on the DermaNew Facial Rejuvenation System. Prior to my purchase, I did a fair amount of research so I knew that what I was getting the crème de la crème of the more than twenty-plus versions that I had to choose from.
Just two weeks after using it, I began to notice that my once sallow complexion (thanks to stress, lack of sleep and yo-yo dieting) had been replaced with a healthy glow. Now my skin looks soft and peachy, kind of like it did when I was twelve...you know, when youth and beauty was effortless...sigh!
All in all this product is best for someone with little to no skin flaws. Those who are expecting miracle results or results similar to what you would get from a full-service salon treatment may be dissapointed. My advice, shell out the necessary funds in order to get your skin under control, then use this product for the upkeep. This is great for removing the dead skin that regular washing tends to leave behind.

NutraSonic Face Brush Skin Care System Basic Set Blue Review

(More customer reviews)I was very hesitant to purchase this because the cost simply seemed too high for a face care product. But with forty looming, I decided it was not unreasonable to start paying a little more to maintain my skin. I have to say the product has exceeded my expectations. I've had it for a couple of weeks now and can see a significant difference in the texture of the skin on my face. And I'm amazed at how clean my skin feels. I've also been using the body brush and notice softer, smoother skin from that as well. This has changed my face routine from being a chore to a little luxury. I have not used the Clarisonic, so cannot compare it to that as far as performance goes. But to compare features, this one is less expensive than the Clarisonic, has four speeds including a pulsating one and has three brushes (sensitive, regular and body). So here are the pro's and con's as I see it-
Pro's: -Can be used both in and out of the shower.
-Nice weight and feel; easy to hold even when wet.
-Keeps a charge for 4-5 days (this is using it twice a day on my face plus in the shower.)
-Charger is completely enclosed so water and contaminants cannot corrode the contacts.
-Four speeds.
-Three different types of brushes (and the brushes have nice, ventilated covers).
-Low charge warning:I don't know if this is intentional or not, but when mine starts to get low, it will
turn on for a few seconds, then shut off temporarily. It then turns back on and easily has enough power to
finish up. This way I know it's time to recharge, but I'm not left halfway through cleaning my face with
no power.
-While not exactly travel size, it is compact enough to pack in your bag. And if you're only going away for
a couple of days, a full charge should be enough to last you and you won't have to pack the charger.
Con's: -Price. I still think it's a bit pricy for what it is, but it is a lot less than other similar products on
the market. Despite the price, I'm pleased enough with it not to regret the purchase.
-Long charging time. It usually takes 24 hours for the fully charged light to show. But I use it when I
need it even if it isn't fully charged, and just put it back on the charger when I'm done. This doesn't
seem to have caused any problems.
-No timer/ beeper like the Clarisonic. I've read that the Clarisonic has a beeper that tells you when to
move to another part of your face, which I think would be a nice feature.
While this isn't a product that is essential like I would say something like a toothbrush is essential, it is a very nice tool for your skin care routine. If you can afford the splurge, I say go for it. The money you spend will last longer than what you would spend on a facial, and you don't have to tip!

(More customer reviews)This is a great little product - Neutrogena took the vibrating rejuvenator unit that it used for its Microdermabrasion kit and added a velcro piece that allows you to attach the rejuvenator puffs. Instructions tell you to use it for 2-3 minutes per facial area - I use it for 5-6 minutes on my entire face just before jumping in the shower in the morning. It replaces my scrub a few times a week. So far I've noticed drastically smoother skin - and at 27 I am looking for something to really scrub away dead skin cells and maybe even out my skin a bit. This feels like it is doing both. The puff foams up with water, and is definitely a bit scratchy. There is a pleasant smell when you are using it.
I had to take off two stars for the following: price. It's overpriced. The unit comes with batteries, but you're still paying $35-39 for a low-tech electronic vibrating device and 12 puffs. Twelve. That will last you 3 or 4 weeks at the most.
The second star is lost by the puffs themselves. They can't be found anywhere. I've looked online and in the store. I'm yet to find them - so I am hoping I do so before I run out of the ones that came with the unit.
UPDATE 1/4/08 - refill puffs are now available on both Amazon and major retail stores. There was quite a delay there, though, so I know the early adopters were really sweating it out. Whew!

Clarisonic Pro Sonic Skin Cleansing for Face and Body - White Review

(More customer reviews)When I was a teenager and in my 20s I was one of the lucky ones and never had issues with my skin, as it was clear and normal 99% of the time. It wasn't until I hit my 30s that the problems began (I'm 35 now.) For whatever reason, I would get breakouts in places I NEVER did before, like my chin, my jawline, and my temples, and no matter which products I used or how much I tried to do the clean/astringent routine, my skin would still go through the cycle of clearing up and then breaking out a little bit again and again. My skin progressively got drier and flakier, became what I would call faintly "blotchy" (even though I do not sunbathe or tan and keep my face out of the sun most of the time...) and I haven't been able to get certain pores clear for the life of me! (i.e. after trying facial steaming, squeezing, clear-pore strips, etc.) So, after my skin had a crazy reaction to a new product line I tried, I went to get a facial where the esthetician introduced me to this little wonder. Well, like many of the other reviews have said, this little machine has TOTALLY turned my skin around and given me back the clean, clear, non-blotchy, non-dry skin I used to have when I was younger! I've been using it for about two weeks now, and after about five days I noticed there were a few tiny pores which had been clogged forEVER that all of a sudden the gunk popped out when I was rinsing my skin. Actually, even the first night I noticed a difference...my skin was smoother and more supple and my husband said my skin was "glowing" like after I've had a facial. And in agreement with everyone else, I feel that my skin care products work much better now, and even my make-up goes on more beautifully. The trial-size cleansers that come with this unit are just okay, and even though I will use them up I still prefer my favorite cleanser. The sensitive brush attachment that it comes with works great (I use it on the second setting because the lowest setting--the factory setting--wasn't "scrubby" enough for me...) but when I order a brush head for my husband to use I will order him the "normal" type brush since his skin is a bit more rough, obviously. By using the Clarisonic (morning and night), plus a quick swipe of my astringent afterwards (only at night), my skin has transformed to practically perfect condition. In case anyone is interested in a good astringent which is safe for most skin types, I use a combo of regular clear witchhazel (available at the drugstore) with about 2-3 drops of pure tea tree oil. This combination kills bacteria, removes residue, does not dry out my skin, is totally natural, and leaves my skin feeling super tingly and fresh. And it's incredibly economical in comparison to commercial astringents sold in the stores! I used to use just pure witchhazel until my friend suggested I add the tea tree oil and it made a huge difference.
Something I noted that might be helpful to some shoppers...after staring at all the different Clarisonic models that Amazon offers for what seemed like two days, I finally figured out the difference between the Clarisonic "Pro" and the Clarisonic "Plus." They are both the same, except for the Pro version (supposedly only available to licensed professionals) has color options and has low-medium-high-pro speeds, whereas the Plus comes only in white and has low-medium-high speeds (sans the "pro" speed but who needs that anyway?) Then, the "Pro" version is available with and without the Body Kit and Universal Charging Cradle...hence, the two different prices for the Pro model (the "Plus" model always includes the Body Kit and Charging Cradle.) Since I preferred the white, wanted the Body Kit, and could care less about the extra speed, the Clarisonic Plus was the model for me.
Anyway, this product is as close to being a skin miracle worker as something can get. I swear that this is probably the best my skin has ever looked and felt, even when I was younger. The price of one Clarisonic equals what I would spend on about two facials, so for me it has been worth every penny. No more agonizing over my skin...it looks pretty again! Yaaaay!

This toy has just one speed. The vibration is as powerful as it is loud which means it really vibrates! The problem with this and pretty much all vibrators on the market is that they are not built with the holder's hand in mind. You wont be able to hold this toy. Its vibration is THAT powerful. Your hand will be numbed as soon as you turn it on. It is so distracting, it really dulls your fun! Be ready to pack yards of cloth with you to wrap around wherever part of the vibrator you wish to hold to cut down the vibration in your hand lol! Well there goes portability out the window!

I was planning on buying an item 3 if not 4 times more $ than this item because it had better reviews and is a brand I am familiar with. I have better skin thanks to a recent Zeno purchase however you still have to wash your face several times a day. My old regime was using a puff buff and a cleanser that I felt was best suited for my skin. If it is a facial cleanser chances are it is in my toilette closet. When I bought this I thought this item would be my back up item. However, it has proven to do A LOT more than I thought. I have heard complaints about it not vibrating and that you have to do so. Or that a washcloth is better. After using it for several weeks here is my review. First of all let's face it, if you are left handed it is easy to clean the left side of your face and vice versa. I don't know about you but when washing my face and usually taking makeup off I leave the water running to rinse my buff puff. If it is a washcloth you not only get stains on it but it is all over your face and you waste more cleanser with a washcloth. I used the pads that came with the device and wetted them as instructed. It lathered up really well and I did not keep the water running. I felt it cleaned not only my face better but I was able to get my neck and side of my neck which breakout frequently as well. The best thing about this device is it is NOT just capable of using the pads intended for it. I am not a huge Dove fan and although it cleans well sometimes I need something stronger. I have stuck a buff puff on the device and then put on a heavier cleanser and it works great! I also have stuck face pads for a well know company that is more abrasive and also the Ponds facial clothes. They ALL stick to this device and I find myself cleaning my face a lot longer and cleaning it better. What I love the most is during the winter my hands get really chapped and blistered. Or even in the summer if you have a cut on your hand this device is a dream. No more running your hands under the water and applying it directly to the harsh chemicals and rinsing. The device is my fingers and it has truly helped my hands and skin since it touch my face, not my bare hands. I love this product and am glad I gave it a try and knowing it is so diverse I could not be happier. I think for the price you get what you paid for and a whole lot more! It is definitely worth it!

Originally wanted the clarisonic, but the Pretika is a great alternative and very reasonable price. My skin is combination (oily tzone). I dont have sensitive skin, so I use it daily on the lower setting as part of my regular skin care routine.. and once a week on stronger setting to exfoliate. My skin has never been smoother!! Its glowing, and keeps the blackheads away from my nose! I absolutely love it! I use glytone skin care products, and the brush definitely helps my skin better absorb them. Ive read alot of people who complain about the pretika brush dying on them after a short time... I believe that this will happen if u recharge the brush while its wet. Make sure the brush is completely dry before setting back to charge!! Especially the metal charging plates. I even go a step further, and place a plastic ziploc bag over the charging cradle while i wash my face, to make sure i dont splash water on it. If you take care of this brush, it will take care of you!!
