(More customer reviews)I was at Target last weekend looking at this product. There was a woman right next to me that noticed me putting it back on the shelf and walking away. She stopped me and told me that she was using it and it worked really well. She had a great deal of discoloration on her face - probably sun damage (I wish now I had asked). But I noticed much of it was peeling off, revealing smooth, pink skin. She told me that was a direct result of the micro-dermabrasion kit. With every use, she could see more and more of the discoloration fading. She went on and on about how wonderful this was and eventually her husband came looking for her. When he overheard her talking to me, he chimed in and also had many great things to say about it. He assured me he had seen a remarkable improvement in his wife's skin since she started using it.
So I decided it was worth a try. I don't have sun damage or hardly any wrinkles yet, but I do have a lot of red and pink scars or marks left behind from acne. Not pitting, just discoloration. I was hoping this system would help diminish the appearance of these marks.
Well, I'm happy to report that it does. I've used it six times now and I have seen those marks fade dramatically. Yippee!!!
However, I feel obliged to mention that I've not followed the directions to a T. I had been using Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle/Anti-Blemish cream for quite some time with very positive results. This cream contains Retinal and Salicylic Acid. The directions for the Micro-Dermabrasion kit said that you should discontinue use of these products while using it. Well, I couldn't bear the thought of parting with this miracle cream since it had done so much for me, so I decided to try using it the morning after the micro-dermabrasion and it didn't bother me. So the next night I put it on right after I was finished and it still didn't bother me. So I've kept using Retinal and Salicylic Acid - against their advice, but it's been working really well for me. But I need to mention that I do not have sensitive skin at all. In fact, I've continue using Proactiv cleanser in the shower, which has a very similar texture as the Micro Dermabrasion cream so it exfoliates much the same way. In addition, it contains Benzoyl Peroxide. And yet my skin still has not had an adverse reaction. Quite the opposite in fact. Furthermore, I've used the micro-dermabrasion kit more often than recommended. The first two nights I used it as directed. But on days three and four, I used it in the morning as well as before bed. I can't help but think that continued use of my favorite products in addition to the micro-dermabrasion twice a day has been the reason why I've seen such dramatic improvement in my skin's texture and appearance. My skin hasn't looked this good since before I hit puberty - and I'm a ripe 38 years now!
But I strongly recommend following the directions from Neutrgena initially. Wait and see how your skin reacts and ease into a more aggressive skin-care routine gradually so you can see how much your own skin can withstand. Good luck!

(More customer reviews)Okay, so 80 bucks seems like a lot of money to plunk down for an at-home microdermabrasion kit...especially when everyone from Homedics to L 'Oreal is marketing a more cost-friendly version of what appears to be the same EXACT thing. However, experience (and lots of money not-so-well spent) has taught me that, in most cases, you generally get what you pay for. Case in point: a few months ago I finally made the decision to trade in my 99 cent ultra-black mascara for a high-end name brand version of the same product...I immediately discovered that mascara-induced racoon eyes really can be avoided! Who knew? After that, I vowed never to pinch pennies when it comes to beauty. Now there are, of course, some exceptions; my mother swears by Oil of Olay -as do I- but when you're talking about microderabrasion, a proceedure that can cost as much as $150 per session, it's hard to believe that you can achieve the same exact results with something that is a mere fraction of the cost.
Skeptical but desperate for youthful looking skin, I opted to splurge on the DermaNew Facial Rejuvenation System. Prior to my purchase, I did a fair amount of research so I knew that what I was getting the crème de la crème of the more than twenty-plus versions that I had to choose from.
Just two weeks after using it, I began to notice that my once sallow complexion (thanks to stress, lack of sleep and yo-yo dieting) had been replaced with a healthy glow. Now my skin looks soft and peachy, kind of like it did when I was twelve...you know, when youth and beauty was effortless...sigh!
All in all this product is best for someone with little to no skin flaws. Those who are expecting miracle results or results similar to what you would get from a full-service salon treatment may be dissapointed. My advice, shell out the necessary funds in order to get your skin under control, then use this product for the upkeep. This is great for removing the dead skin that regular washing tends to leave behind.

(More customer reviews)This is a great little product - Neutrogena took the vibrating rejuvenator unit that it used for its Microdermabrasion kit and added a velcro piece that allows you to attach the rejuvenator puffs. Instructions tell you to use it for 2-3 minutes per facial area - I use it for 5-6 minutes on my entire face just before jumping in the shower in the morning. It replaces my scrub a few times a week. So far I've noticed drastically smoother skin - and at 27 I am looking for something to really scrub away dead skin cells and maybe even out my skin a bit. This feels like it is doing both. The puff foams up with water, and is definitely a bit scratchy. There is a pleasant smell when you are using it.
I had to take off two stars for the following: price. It's overpriced. The unit comes with batteries, but you're still paying $35-39 for a low-tech electronic vibrating device and 12 puffs. Twelve. That will last you 3 or 4 weeks at the most.
The second star is lost by the puffs themselves. They can't be found anywhere. I've looked online and in the store. I'm yet to find them - so I am hoping I do so before I run out of the ones that came with the unit.
UPDATE 1/4/08 - refill puffs are now available on both Amazon and major retail stores. There was quite a delay there, though, so I know the early adopters were really sweating it out. Whew!
