Remington D-2012 Tstudio Collection Tourmaline and Ceramic Hair Dryer Review

(More customer reviews)A dryer that meets all your styling needs. It's not often that you can find one that is suited for both curly and straight styles. The air diffusing attachment is perfect for creating soft, frizz free curls while the concentrator nozzle (more narrow and therefore a better conductor of air than most models with this feature) allows you to direct air exactly where you want it. The dryer itself features two speed (low and high) and three heat settings (cool, warm and hot), as well as a cold shot button to lock in style. For the highest heat setting, simply put the dryer on high speed and the hottest setting (careful, though...this is only recommended for hair that's UBER curly, like mine). Additionally, the 9 foot long cord (complete with a loop that will allow you to hook it onto something in your bathroom or wherever else you store it) makes it really easy to use. Another bonus: even on the highest setting, the dryer is considerably more quiet than other ones on the market that are similarly priced (you can easily hold a conversation while speaking in a normal tone of voice).
According to the information that's included with the product, the dryer is made with a combination pink tourmaline/ceramic technology that allows for a special emission of ions (these are important for eliminating static electricity). I found that after use, my hair actually was a lot smoother even than when I used previous hair dryers with ionic technology; I used it to style my hair both in its naturally curly state and after setting it in rollers to blow dry it straight. If your hair is really curly like mine, however, you might still want to use a flatiron to get that pin-straight look. But for less curly hair or hair that's less prone to frizz, that probably won't be necessary.
Although this is by far my favorite hair dryer I've ever owned, I do agree with the previous comment on this product: it really would be the perfect dryer if it had a folding handle. But this is only a tiny flaw, as it more than makes up for that missing feature with its humidity resisting technology. Well done, Remington. An invaluable product for any styling arsenal.

We were seeking a solution for the annoying and piercing "screaming" of her hair dryer at 4:30AM, and this turned up in a search for "super quiet" hair dryers. Well, this unit does offer some nice improvements in both speed and temperature selections as well as a momentary "cool" button. But although it is perhaps a little lower in the tone or frequency of its sound, the total noise produced by it is only nominally different from the much cheaper unit it replaced. We don't sense that it puts out more air or heat than the much less expensive one we had, but it came with some interesting styling attachments to make it appear more like a pro unit. It also features a detachable lint filter at the intake which may be worth something down the road as that clogs. Our 12 year old son did think it was "cool" though -- whatever that may be worth.

(More customer reviews)I have long, thick, curly (frizzy, mediterranean) hair which I straighten, but which nonetheless frizzes if not properly dried. I've just tried this dryer -- I have several dryers, including the $235.00 tourmaline/ceramic/ionic -- and it works. The ends are not a problem (see previous review). You do have to get your fingers out of the way -- i.e., let go -- but you can curl your hand around the brush-end of the dryer to hold the ends flat as they dry. My hair looked as well or better as when I dry it in sections with the $235.00 hairdryer and a large brush. While the Conair blow dry was not quite as smooth as those that I've had at a high-end NYC salon, it definitely was as smooth as a "no appointment, FIFO" moderately priced salon blow dry. I would recommend it to anyone who has difficult hair and can't afford weekly blow-drys.

Well, I loved it so much that I kept it for myself. It cut my drying time in half. I love how even the hottest air from the dryer seems cool compared to my old hair dryer. Also, I decided to get this for my best friend for Christmas. She has long, thick hair. She emailed me after two days of use and said (rather melodramatically) that the hair dryer had changed her life! She said that it cut her blowing time in half. She has mentioned it two other times since Christmas so she is very impressed and thrilled with the product. The only negative is that it is very heavy compared to my previous dryer. It took me a couple weeks to get used to it but now my arm doesn't remember the difference. I bought another one for my mother who likes it but said that it was drying her hair so quickly that she has to use the diffuser attachment so she has time to strategically style her hair with a brush before it is dry. We all highly recommend this product. Great value for the money.

(More customer reviews)I always look for a hair dryer that has separate heat and air flow settings, and a removable filter. This has those features. I had been curious about the ionic feature and when my conair died, I decided I'd purchase one with an ionic feature -afterall, it was only about 5 bucks more? I was skeptical enough to keep all the packaging in order to return it if it didn't work. Afterall, who needs a dryer that doesn't work? I didn't have to return this one.
Have you ever left your hair in a towel until it was completely dry? That is how your hair will feel when you use this dryer, only it will take a much shorter amount of time. And be styled the way you want it to be!
I've found that this dryer does dry faster, and leaves my hair softer and shinier and fuller than my old conair.
I've got long thin hair, so thin that it NEVER keeps a curl, or the body and fullness that is there when you first dry it. This dryer allows my hair to keep body and fullness throughout the day.
I'm not sure about other ionic dryers, but this one has a switch to turn off the ionic feature if you'd like - although I can't imagine why.
I would highly recommend this hair dryer.

Conair Ion Shine 1875-Watt Hair Dryer Review

(More customer reviews)This is my only experience with an ionic hair dryer, so I have nothing with which to compare this one. However, I bought it because I had several expections about its features. Here is how each feature measured up:
Quicker? NO. It may even take a little longer than a standard 1875-watt dryer. The reason is that the fan does not blow very hard. The "high" setting blows about like the "low" setting on a standard dryer.
Reduced frizz/flyaways/static? YES. These are significantly reduced.
Increased shine? YES. My hair is visibly shinier.
Quieter? YES, but qualified. The only reason it is quieter is because it doesn't blow air as hard as a regular dryer.
Freshens hair? YES.
Another drawback: This dryer is very heavy. It took me several days to get used to how heavy it is.
This dryer delivers almost all of what ionic hairdryers promise, but I was mostly hoping for a dryer to speed drying time. If you have thin hair or hair that dries quickly or have plenty of time to dry your hair, then I would highly recommend this dryer. My hair looks shinier and healthier.

(More customer reviews)I scooped up the Conair 259 Infiniti Pro from Amazon's Vine program even though I did not need a new hair dryer because I thought either my wife, sister, or mother would want to try it. My mother had been using the same old-school dryer for over a decade and declined to try the Conair 259. My wife and sister however, were rather excited to try a combination ionic and ceramic hair dryer. The last hair dryer I purchased broke within 3 years so they certainly don't make them like they used to. Do they?

HAIR DRYING
If you're like my mother and haven't used or looked for a hair dryer in the last 10 years, then you probably have no idea what an ionic or ceramic hair dryer is. The ionic feature works by emitting negative ions and is supposed to address frizzing, enhance overall shine and even promote healthy hair. It is also supposed to lock in moisture and reduce static. The ceramic feature is supposed to help by providing even heat distribution to reduce drying times, thus decreasing heat exposure to your hair. Mind you, neither of these features are unique to Conair. Many modern hair dryers implement one or both technologies. Simply put, the features help, a lot. My sister swears by ionic hair dryers and the Conair 259 was her first combo unit she has tried and she really liked it. Her straight hair is typically down past her shoulder blades. My wife also enjoyed using it and her hair is wavy/curly and just past the top of her shoulders. The odd thing was that the "Cool" setting on the dryer was still pretty warm and the only way to get actual cool air was to use the blue cold-shot button.
WEIGHT AND BALANCE
I found the balance to be quite good and it felt natural in my hands. My wife and sister both agreed. We also all agreed that it was heavy. It wouldn't prevent us from buying it or using it, but I would not describe this hair dryer as being light in any way.
DURABILITY
As I mentioned previously, it doesn't seem to appear that they make hair dryers as durable as they once did, but the Conair 295 Infiniti Pro might just well buck that trend. It is built like a tank. It not only feels hefty, but entire unit feels solid and well made. The rocker switches operate smoothly as well and the removable filter ensures further durability.
NOISE
If you were envisioning drying your hair at night without disturbing others in the household, I have to pop that bubble for you. I have no idea how Conair's marketers could in good conscience use, "whisper-quiet" to describe this dryer. It may be slightly quieter than some models, but to most, it's probably as loud as any other dryer.
CONCLUSION
The Conair 259 Infiniti Pro would not have been tops on my list of hair dryers, but now that I have had a chance to use it, I'm not sure what hair dryer could top it for the price. A good value and recommended.

Revlon RV544 1875 Watt Tourmaline Ionic Lightweight Dryer, Silver/Black Review

(More customer reviews)This hair dryer is the third in a series of attempts to find the right hair dryer for my wife, who has long thick hair. The first one was a Vidal Sassoon that had ionic technology, but didn't get near hot enough. She was drying her hair for > 20 minutes.
The second attempt was the Revlon RV469 ceramic, which was much quieter and got hotter, but didn't have much air flow. Also, it is quite heavy. It was better than the first dryer, but not hair drying nirvana.
This dryer (Revlon RV544) has easily cut my wife's drying time in half. She has very thick & long hair, and the high heat setting makes quick work of it. It gets hot enough that I actually tone it down to warm for myself (I have short, thick hair) whenever I have to use the dryer. I think the air flow settings are perfect. The dryer is also nice and light, and fits in a bathroom drawer easily, unlike some of the bulkier models out there.
My wife thinks this is the best dryer she has ever had. We highly recommend it.
