The razor fell apart during the first week of use, my husband had it superglued and now it works... but it is a shame, such a beautifull set and so poor quality.

(More customer reviews)Being a senior, I was disappointed when I could no longer purchase lather shave cream and I hated the aerosol cans because they were wasteful and messy!! This looked my answer to my shaving desires. I could now lather up like the good old days, but almost immediately bristles started coming out and in no time the whole brush came apart. The mug and soap are fine, but it was necessary to visit a local drug store and purchase a new brush which is working fine.

The Body Shop Men's Synthetic Shaving Brush . Review

(More customer reviews)This is a great starter brush. If you're just starting out in wet-shaving this is worth checking out. The bristles are synthetic, but they're dyed to mimic a badger hair brush. Kind of pointless, considering the Body Shop is all vegetarian. The bristles are a bit stiff. It won't create as good of a lather as a badger brush, but it still does the job quite nicely. On the plus side, since it's all synthetic, the drying time is fast. The handle is made out of wood and after a while, you'll notice that it will begin to soak up moisture. It's not much of an issue when it comes to the performance.
Overall, not bad for ten bucks. It's worth checking out if you want a brush that won't leave you broke.

(More customer reviews)If you travel a lot, but still like a blade shave, this is great. Bristles are as good as my regular brush, and the neat way it packs up makes packing very easy. I worried about it draining water into the travel kit but it doesn't. Very well made so it provides a firm hold. Definitely worth the price. Had it about a year and no signs of deterioration.
I would also order the Col Ichabod travel soap dish. Good soap, very tight so no leaks there, either.

Van Der Hagen Men's Luxury, Badger Brush, 3-Ounce Review

(More customer reviews)Initial observations as I've not had an opportunity to use it yet but will follow up more in depth... this brush was shedding the second I held it. Several hairs were sticking up above the knot loft and these were easily removed. Also several bits of hair came out of the knot. By bits I mean as if some of the hair ends had broken off.. real small bits. I think this may be due to washing several, if not hundreds, of knots together at the same time from the factory since the brush doesn't have the usual "dirty badger" smell but smells as if it's been washed as the clean, soapy scent on the knot out of the box is overpowering. I can picture many knots in a soapy bath being agitated by an arm to get them all clean and all of that knocking about causing split and broken hair ends and those bits of hair getting into the knot. The hair is soft for the most parts but the ends feel bristly and pointy in this dry and unused condition. I'll see how it feels when full of lather... Would have been nice if it came with the usual plastic brush stand but one of those can be easily found elsewhere.

(More customer reviews)This is a great brush. I think I am starting to prefer the boar to the badger, it has more backbone and works well with creams and soaps. You do need to be aware that this is an animal product, so when you get it expect it to smell like a wet boar. Wet boars apparently smell horrible. Wash it out with a mild detergent or shampoo a few times and it is fine, but it takes a couple uses for the smell to go away completely. Boar brushes also take a while to break in so the brush changes quit a bit over the first couple weeks. At first it only worked will with soaps, but as it broke in it works great with anything.

Jack Black Pure Performance Shave Brush 1 ea Review

(More customer reviews)The price of this brush seems rather high at first glance, especially for a synthetic. But the Jack Black brush is designed to hold water like a quality silvertip badger brush, and the price is certainly comparable to one of those. Moreover, just like a quality razor, it should last many years. Therefore I would recommend this brush to men who are serious about shaving in the traditional way but who don't like the idea of Chinese badgers being skinned to make brushes.
As for its performance, I can attest that it does hold water exceptionally well. Almost *too* well, in fact: I initially underestimated it and ended up with lather that was too runny. I've since learned to let a bit of extra water run off or to give it a light flick before whipping the later in the cup. Once you get the hang of it (and the proportions of cream/soap and water), it whips up a nice, thick lather. This brush also feels good on the face, slightly firm but not bristly.
In short, I'd say this brush is a good example of how good old human ingenuity can often make cruelty to animals wholly unnecessary.

(More customer reviews)I already use Art of Shaving pre-shave oil, shaving cream, and their upper end badger brush. I have always liked these and especially in the lavender scent. Lavender is so calming and girls always comment on the smell. The pre-shave oil is were it is at especially if you get razor burn easily.
I bought these for groomsmen's gifts with a dopp bag. It was a good way to expose them to this product without investing in the sampler or a full kit. The positive feedback I got from these guys were: great scent, like the pre-shave oil, and like the after shave balm. The less-positive feedback I got was: the shaving cream does not later well and the brush falls apart.
The brush is pretty low end when compared to even AofS's low-end/regular sized brushes. Others have mentioned the same thing so I would not expect to travel with this and expect a high performer. It is best for getting your foot in the door to see if you like it.
I use the shaving cream soap bar so I have never had any experience with the shaving cream from the tube. I think I'll stick to my AofS soap bar and badger brush.

Omega 63167 Stripey 100% Pure Badger Shaving Brush with Stand Review

(More customer reviews)This is the first badger brush I've ever owned. I can say that it's definitely worth the money over boar brushes. You'll be able to feel the difference with your first shave, and you'll be able to see the difference even before you shave as this badger brush lathers up considerably better than a boar brush. So far I have not had any brush hair loss, the brush appears durable.
There are 3 types of badger: Pure, Best and Silvertip. Pure is the low end of badger hair (still easily worth the money over boar) while Silvertip is the high end and the best you can get allegedly. I have not yet tried it, but you can find Omega Silvertip brushes on Amazon for about twice the price that you can buy this brush. I'd say get this brush first if you're unsure about paying more for a brush, and then get the Silvertip afterwards if you think it will make a difference. I don't know that you'd need a better brush than this one, but it's important to know that beforehand. I personally had forgotten and did not check, but I'm happy with this brush regardless and recommend it.

Jack Black Supreme Cream Triple Cushion Shave Lather Review

I had given him the 7 piece "On the Road Travel Pack", which he loved, and when he ran out of the shave lube included in that, I thought I'd get him this Triple Cushion Shave Lather. It is the greatest! He hates to shave, but this makes it much more tolerable for him. Soft, smooth skin, and a smooth, no drag razor trail make this the best stuff he's ever used for shaving. I love too use it for shaving my legs too! The macadamia nut oil, glycerin and soybean oil, make a terrific moisturizing base, and help protect from razor nicks and abrasions. Sometimes it is hard to find, just make sure it is the Jack Black Shave Lather in the jar, not the tube. (altho the shave lube in the tube is good too...) this Triple Cushion is just that much better, and worth searching out.
